William Robert (Bobby) Davis, Sr.

William Robert (Bobby) Davis, Sr.  (84) departed from this life peacefully at home on July 22, 2023 with his family surrounding him to spend eternity in bliss with his Savior.

He was born in Scott County on December 28, 1938 to the late J.W. and Elizabeth Davis.

After graduating from Bourbon County High School in 1957, he married his high school sweetheart and eternal love of his life, Irene Bates, on December 19, 1958.  To this union were born three children:  Connie (Mac) Smith and William Robert (Bill) (Stephanie) Davis, Jr. of Paris and Daniel Clay (Violet) Davis of Vine Grove, KY.

He was retired as a printer from Mallinckrodt, Inc. where he made many friendships that continued throughout the years.  But, at heart, he loved farming – his roots.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, cars, and was talented in his many interests.

His first love was his faith.  From a young age, he accepted Christ and developed an impenetrable desire to serve as Christ served.  As a young father of 3, he was fervently devoted to having his family in church every time the doors were open, reading scripture and serving others – albeit quietly – merely enjoying helping others in any way possible, making repairs at the church, home and hospital visits, delivering communion to shut-ins, making coffee for Sunday School, hosting Easter Sunrise Breakfast, and offering prayer and a helping hand to anyone in need.  He was a charter member of Calvary Christian Church of Paris and was an elder, teacher, and preaching occasionally until the last few years of his life.  A deep faith was the greatest gift he gave his children and, the second greatest, was the tremendous love he gave their mother – still writing love notes, holding hands and revering her verbally.

He is survived by his wife, his three children and their spouses, his grandchildren:  Brandon (Haley) Lizer, Austin (Sarah) Lizer, Leah Willoughby, Laura (Nathan) Boggs, Samantha (Calvin) Andries, Savanah (Eric) Rodriguez, and Easton Davis and10 great-grandchildren.  Brothers:  Roy (Evelyn) Davis, John (Joan) Davis, and Harold (Rhonda) Davis. Sisters:  Dorothy Wilhoite, Wanda (Jimmy) Williams and a host of nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Aubrey Davis (10), one sister and her husband, Mildred (Mickey) and Wheeler (Buster) Hay and one brother-in-law, Thomas Wilhoite.

We will miss him and not forget him and remember that our loss of this faithful man is Heaven’s gain.

We extend an open invitation to his Celebration of Life on September 23, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Christian Church.  Lloyd Wilhoite, nephew, will lead in song and Brother Ronnie Hupp will officiate.
