Bennie Bridges, Jr.
Bennie Edward Bridges, Jr. (Pete or Petey), born May 2, 1945, passed July 17, 2024, peacefully in his home. He is survived by his wife, Emily Ayres Bridges; sons, Bennie Edward Bridges, III, and Grant Alexander Bridges; daughter-in-law, Lauren Wilson Bridges; and grandson, Liam Alexander Bridges. He also leaves behind a brother, Richart Bridges (Ricky), and wife Kay; two very special nieces, Catie Walz (Matt), and Amie Rainwater (Phillip); along with three great nephews, Kayden Rainwater, Dylan Rainwater, Jackson Walz; and two great nieces, Avery and Kinlee Walz.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Maymnelle Lyde Richart Bridges (Teeter), and father, Bennie Edward Bridges, Sr.
He was a part of the last high school graduating class of 1963 in North Middletown, KY. He continued his education at Morehead State University where he achieved a bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education, a master’s degree in Business Administration, as well as a minor in Geography and Psychology.
Before graduating college, Pete was drafted into the Untied States Army. While in the Army, he was stationed in Italy for three years and was the lead guitarist of a band called “The New Groove” and produced an American Jazz album.
After the military he returned home and finished his degrees and worked for the FBI with top secret clearance for two years. He then shortly had a sales position selling screws in Pittsburg before acquiring a job for the Stamler Corporation in sales for 21 years. While at Stamler, he was in charge of Machinery shows in Las Vegans and Chicago. He later retired from Toyota after working there for nine and a half years.
He often enjoyed daily scenic drives and was a member of North Middletown Christian Church where he participated in the choir and served as a deacon.
Visitation and a memorial service will be held at North Middletown Christian Church on Saturday, July 20, 2024, beginning at 11:00 a.m. followed by the service at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Stephanie Moon officiating. Interment will follow in North Middletown cemetery with Harry Richart, Matt Walz, Ronnie Davis, Phil Showalter, George Wilder, and Todd McFarland being casket bearers. Serving as honorary bearers were Phillip Rainwater, Graham Burns, Floyd Davis, and Lee Burns.
