Elgain Douglas Christopher, age 75, of Paris, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2024, in Lexington, KY. Born on January 31, 1949, in Paris, KY, he was a man of honor and joy, whose love for life was infectious to all who knew him.
Elgain proudly served his country as a Captain in the United States Air Force, a time during which he cultivated his discipline and commitment to service—a commitment he carried forward into his career as a respected excavating contractor. After years of dedicated work, he retired, allowing more time to invest in the passions that filled his heart.
A devoted family man, Elgain is survived by his loving wife Julie Jones Christopher; their three children, Wayne (Christy) Christopher, Rachael (Kristopher) Gorlow, and Nicholas (M.C. Fowler) Spivey. His legacy continues through his eight adoring grandchildren: Kyleigh, Grant, Grace, Shelby, Quinten, Owen, Laelan, and Lance. He is also remembered by his siblings, William (Sheila) Christopher, Eddie Christopher, and Diana (Billy) Hafley, alongside numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who cherished his presence in their lives.
Elgain’s interests encapsulated the essence of his character. Whether it was a sunny afternoon spent golfing, a quiet morning fishing, or the patient labor of love on his farm, he found joy in the simplicity of nature and the companionship of his animals. His approach to life was a blend of kindness, generosity, and a hearty sense of humor that warmed the hearts of all around him. Elgain Douglas Christopher’s presence will be profoundly missed, yet the memories he created will continue to resonate with love and laughter in the stories retold by family and friends.
Graveside services were conducted at 11:00 AM Friday October 18, 2024 at the Camp Nelson National Cemetery, 6980 Danville Rd., Nicholasville, KY by Rev. Jerry Walters with military honors following.
Pallbearers were Kris Gorlow, Nicholas Spivey, Grant Hughes, Owen Sigler and Quinten Hughes.
