Dorothy Stacey Despots, a beacon of laughter and love to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on the last day of the year 2024 in Georgetown, KY. Born on June 13, 1953, in Paris, KY, Dorothy’s infectious sense of humor and caring nature were evident from a young age.
Warm memories of Dorothy will be cherished by her family, including her children, Jeff (Dianna) O’Neal and Laura Rison. She was a doting grandmother to six grandchildren, Josh Stith, Jeremy Stith, Jeffery O’Neal, Jr., Ashley O’Neal, Irelyn O’Neal, and Case O’Neal, who along with her three great-grandchildren, Eliza Areas, Gunner O’Neal, and Harper O’Neal, brought endless joy to her life.
Dorothy is lovingly remembered by her sister, Brenda Bills, and her brother, Bascum Stacey, as well as her numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her legacy of love and laughter is especially poignant as she now reunites with her late parents, Leo Stacey and Louise Warmouth Sanders, in eternal peace.
Before retiring, she was the heart and soul of the local convenience stores she managed, where she formed lasting bonds and impacted numerous lives. Dorothy’s love for life was evident in her passions; she relished the quiet thrill of fishing and the excitement of a scary movie.
Known for being funny, loving, and thoughtful, Dorothy’s presence was a gift to this world. She will be profoundly missed for her genuine care and the way she brightened every room with her smile and spirit.
