Clarence Lee Sullivan
Clarence Lee Sullivan, known warmly as Lee to his friends and family, passed away peacefully at Bourbon Heights in Paris, Kentucky, on March 25, 2025. Born on May 21, 1941, in Paris, KY, Lee lived a full and spirited life, deeply rooted in the community that he loved.
Lee was a cherished father to his three children, Candy, Shannon, and Jason Sullivan, and a grandfather to Jared and Blake Powell. He was a beloved brother to Joe Sullivan, Betty Ogden, and Patsy (Larry) Barker. Lee’s life was also enriched by the close bond he shared with his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Julia Roberts Sullivan, his former wife, Mary Jo Shannon Sullivan, his daughter-in-law, Cynthia Lynn Banks Powell Sullivan, his brother Carl Sullivan, and sisters Lois Anderson, Mildred Ryan, Jean Kinley, and Dorothy Turner.
Lee celebrated a successful career spanning many years as a Senior Development Specialist focusing on CAD and CATIA at IBM. His technical acumen and intelligence were respected by his peers and colleagues. Beyond his professional achievements, Lee was a proud veteran, having served his country in the United States Navy, a testament to his enduring patriotism and sense of duty.
Lee’s true passion lay outside the office; he was an ardent farmer who founded the Sullivan Charolais Cattle Company in 1988. His love for farming and cattle was not just a profession but a way of life that he cherished deeply. Those who knew Lee will remember an intelligent man with a spirited nature. Above all, he prided himself on being a dedicated father, delighting in the successes and adventures of his children. Lee truly enjoyed his time and the friends that he made at Bourbon Heights and the family is very thankful for the love and care he received from the staff.
Lee’s legacy will continue to live on through the memories he has created with those who knew him best, and he will be profoundly missed by all whose lives he touched.
A memorial gathering will be held from 6-8 PM Tuesday April 8, 2025, at the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home Chapel, 1120 Main St., Paris, KY.
