Jack “Jackie” Fielding Byars

Jack “Jackie” Fielding Byars of Rockford departed this earthly life on April 6, 2025. He was born to Don Sr and Edna Byars on May 19, 1955, in Millersburg, Ky. He graduated from Bourbon County High School in Paris, KY. Living most of his life in Millersburg, Jack was employed as a sanitation worker by the town of Millersburg and in maintenance by the US Postal Service. Jack was also a member of Woods Chapel CME Church where he served as a trustee.
Jack lived in Rockford for the past 10 years. While in Rockford, Jack attended Lifescape Adult Day Care and New Fellowship Baptist Church. Jack loved playing BINGO, working word search puzzles, and playing solitaire. Whether in KY or IL, he was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan.
Jack leaves his brother, Don (Dr. Lauretta) Byars Jr.; two sisters, Eurslyn Byars Hines, and Katie Byars; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to cherish his many loving memories. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, William “Billy” Byars.
Memorial Services were held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Family received guests from 12:00 noon until the time of service.
