Grover James Yazell

Grover James Yazell, 72, died Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Saint Joseph East Hospital, Lexington, KY.

A native of Bourbon County, KY, he was the son of the late William Vester Yazell and Marlene Tubbs Yazell Terrell. Grover enjoyed learning about the Cherokee Indians and sign language. He loved to watch scary movies and sit in his recliner with his dog, Lady.

He is survived by one sister, Wanda Yazell (Thomas Price) Porter; two brothers, Orville Thomas Yazell and William Ray Yazell; three nephews, Taylor Porter, Hunter Porter, and James (Kelsey) Yazell; three nieces, Tanya Hayes-Evans (Scott), Aimee (Jonathon) Schouten, and Rachel Bratcher-Thompson; one aunt, Mary Tubbs Mitchell; a host of great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, and cousins; special family, David Henderson, Arnie and Sue Henderson, and Patricia Booth-Thacker; special friends, Gwen Parker and Beth Bowman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, James and Gertrude Tubbs; paternal grandparents, Grover and Sarah Yazell; one sister, Opal May Yazell; one brother, Terry Wayne Yazell, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday, September 29, 2025, at the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home Chapel, 1120 Main Street, Paris, KY by Steve Baker. Burial will be in the Paris Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Monday, September 29, 2025, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Taylor Porter, Hunter Porter, David Henderson, Scott Evans, Brandon Tubbs, and John Courtney.

Honorary pallbearer will be Arnie Henderson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Paris Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) 6 Legion Road, Paris, KY 40361 or to the charity of your choice.
