LOUISVILLE, KY – State meet outlook for Bourbon County centers on depth, momentum, and multiple top‑seeded athletes. The performance list for the 2026 KHSAA State Indoor Track & Field Championships, held at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center in Louisville, is now finalized, giving the Colonels and Lady Colonels a clear picture of where they stand heading into tomorrow’s Class 2A competition. With the 1A and 3A meets already completed earlier in the week, Thursday’s session closes out the three‑day indoor showcase.

Marleigh Estes
Bourbon enters with one of the strongest indoor resumes in Class 2A. The boys’ team captured the CKC Championship, while the girls finished as runner‑up, and both squads appear capable of contending for a state team title. Much of that confidence comes from the number of athletes who have already achieved national qualifying marks, a sign of both top‑end talent and the steady development that has defined the program’s winter season.

Christopher Wells
Several Colonels headline that group. Senior Christopher Wells has qualified nationally in the mile, two‑mile, and 5K, while senior Jacob Ezell has earned a national berth in the 60‑meter dash. Senior Marleigh Estes, competing in two different events, has qualified in both the 800 and the two‑mile. The boys’ 4×800 relay team of Wells, senior Kenneth Salas, sophomore Grant Perraut, and junior Stephen Bryce Perraut has also punched its ticket to nationals, giving Bourbon another proven scoring threat.
Wells enters today’s meet ranked No. 1 in both the 1600 and 3200, positioning him as one of the top distance runners in the entire field. The Lady Colonels’ 4×200, 4×400, and 4×800 relay teams are all ranked No. 2, and the boys’ 4×800 relay holds a No. 2 seed as well. Those rankings place Bourbon County in position to score heavily across multiple events, especially in the relays, where the program has traditionally excelled when the stakes are highest.
Beyond the top seeds, Bourbon brings a deep roster of qualifiers capable of moving up and adding valuable points. Several athletes posted season‑best marks in the final weeks leading into state, suggesting the Colonels and Lady Colonels are peaking at the right time. Coaches have praised the group’s consistency and competitive edge, noting that indoor championships often hinge on athletes who can outperform their seed and steal points in crowded fields.

With both teams positioned to contend, today’s meet will likely come down to execution in the middle rounds, clean relay exchanges, and the ability to convert seeded opportunities into podium finishes. Bourbon County has shown throughout the season that it can rise to the moment, and the state stage now offers its biggest test, because when it comes to this team … they never quit!
Below is the full list of Bourbon County qualifiers and their qualifying performances, although a competitor can only compete in four events, for tomorrow’s Class 2A State Indoor Championships.
