Catherine Marie Wimor Curtis
Catherine Marie Wimor Curtis, affectionately known as Granny to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, in Lexington, KY. Born on September 27, 1941, in Clay City, KY, to the late Herbert Wimor and Lillie Mae Borders Fraley, Catherine’s life was a testament to the love and care she bestowed upon those around her.
Catherine’s journey began as a cherished daughter and sister, growing up in a bustling household that would shape her into the remarkable woman she became. She was a beacon of kindness and humor, traits that endeared her to everyone she met. Her Christian faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her through times of joy and sorrow with unwavering grace.
Throughout her life, Catherine dedicated herself to the role of a homemaker, a vocation she performed with love and excellence. She created a warm and welcoming home, not just for her family but for all who crossed her threshold. Her hands were rarely still, as she found joy in watching her favorite soap operas, engaging in the daily challenge of crossword puzzles, and caring for her beloved dogs, who were her constant companions.
Catherine’s memory will be cherished and kept alive by her adoring grandchildren, Samantha (Donnie) Cross and Charlie (Stephanie) Peak, her great-grandchildren, Katelyn Cross, Kayla Peak, Whitney Peak, Justin Peak and Dillon (Ady) Cross, and her step-grandchildren, Nikki and Sara Woods. Her sisters, Connie Cecil and Norma Creech, along with her brothers, Darryle Fraley, Kenny Fraley, Tony Fraley, and Tom Fraley, Jr., will hold dear the times they shared. Her legacy also lives on through her numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, who will miss her dearly.
She now joins in eternal rest her late husband, Albert Curtis, Sr., and her children, Frances Marie Curtis Holder and Albert Curtis, Jr., as well as her brothers Bill, Milton, Danny, James, and Virgil, and sisters Linda, Betty, Carolyn, Lois, and Lola, who preceded her in passing.
Catherine’s life was a beautiful mosaic of love, laughter, and service. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to know her. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. Catherine’s legacy of kindness and humor will forever remain a cherished memory in the hearts of her loved ones.
