David Hunter Shewmaker, II

David Hunter Shewmaker, II “Kiwi”, age 62, died Wednesday, March 23, 2026, at Baptist Healthcare in Lexington due to complications of kidney and liver failure. He was born September 16, 1963, in Lexington, Kentucky, Son of David Hunter Shewm·aker and the late Brenda Howe Shewmaker. Hunter was a 1982 graduate of Bourbon County High School, and was Retired Director of The Woodford County EMS/Paramedic Service.and Retired Sergeant at Transylvania University Police Department.
Hunter is survived by his Father, David Shewmaker of Paris, a son David Hunter Shewmaker Ill of Versailles, Sister Nicki Shewmaker Hunt (John), Nephew Adam Smith of Paris, Great Nephews Robie Hopkins of Paris, Ethan Kendle of St. Cloud Florida, Aunt Janice Sue Shewmaker Carter of Harrodsburg, a host of cousins on both the Shewmaker, Mingua and Carter side, his beloved dogs, especially his beloved Layla the Pug that is 17 years old. Hunter was preceded in death by his mother Brenda H. Shewmaker, Maternal Grandmother Elsie Mingua Luallen and Paternal Grandmother Martina Shewmaker.
