David Juett Burchell

David Juett Burchell, age 81, of Paris, husband of Marjorie “Nell” Allen Burchell, departed this life on Monday, April 6, 2026, at Bourbon Heights. David was born in Lexington, Kentucky on February 28, 1945 to the late Aaron and Ellen Gray Burchell. He was one of eleven children, and a graduate of Bryan Station High School. He proudly served 26 years in the United States Army Reserves where he attained the rank of First Sargent. He retired from the Federal Medical Center in Lexington (FMC) where he was a foreman in the print department and later retired from the Bourbon County School System after 19 years of driving a bus for special needs children. David loved watching NASCAR and spending time with his family. In earlier years, he enjoyed playing baseball, bowling, playing golf, bird watching, and amateur drag racing. He was a member of Indian Creek Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Synthia Burchell, sisters Sue (Ellis) Bowman, Nellie (Ray) Schlachter, Ollie (Ralph) Reynolds, Tina (Tommy) Mahanes, Judy (Clarence) Abney, and brothers Robert (Nancy) Burchell and Phillip (Sharon) Burchell.
Along with his wife Nell, he is survived by two sons, Darrin Burchell and Keith (Tracy) Burchell, sisters Jean (Eddie) Cox, Pat (Ray) Asher, and Mary Ann (Paul) Rainey. Also surviving are his grandchildren Tristan (Lakyn) Burchell, Shaine (Maria) Burchell, Rebekah Burchell and her fiancé Casey Stamper, two great grandchildren Malcolm Burchell and Quentin Burchell, and a host of nieces and nephews.
David was loved by many, especially his family. We will deeply miss the love he gave to us, his sense of humor, and his presence within our family.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2026 at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with a memorial service starting at 12 noon with Rev. Lee Cox officiating.
