Bruce Hart Forsythe

Bruce Hart Forsythe, age 91, widower of Marie Dudley Keller Forsythe, died Thursday, April 23, 2026 at home surrounded by his family after a full life of service to his community. He was born June 24, 1934 in Paris, son of the late William Current and Lena Ruth Florence Forsythe. Bruce was a 1952 graduate of Paris High School and graduated with honors from the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science. He had been a licensed funeral director and embalmer since 1959 and was co-owner of the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home.
Bruce was a member of Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church where he had served on the Vestry, a member of the Paris Lions Club for over 60 years, Past District Governor of District 43T, served as a Kentucky Lions Trustee, Knight of the Blind, and was a Melvin Jones Fellow. He was a life member of Bourbon Lodge #23, I.O.O.F., member of the Paris High School Alumni Scholarship Committee, Funeral Directors Association of Kentucky, National Funeral Director Association, former chairman of American Red Cross, past president of Habitat for Humanity, member of the Kentucky Coroners Association, member of American Legion Post #30, a Kentucky Colonel; and was a veteran of the United States Navy. Bruce had served as Bourbon County Coroner for over 20 years. He loved to play golf and enjoyed many annual trips to Daytona with the crew to play. Later in life, he and Dudley would enjoy spending some winter months on Anna Marie Island.
He is survived by a son, Clay Thomas (Rachael) Forsyth; daughter, Margaret Anne Forsythe (Joe) Showalter; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Hart (Donnie) Spencer, Lauren Clay (Andrew) Biddle, Sarah Kathryn Hager (Kyle Edmondson), Garrard Clay (Luz) Forsythe; step grandchildren, Dr. Morgan (Dr. Derek) Showalter-Yoho, Madison (Clayton) McAlmond, Phoenix Cole Logan; four great grandchildren, Ellison Hart Spencer, William Montgomery “Liam” Biddle, Mason Keller Biddle, John Andrew Biddle; step great grandchildren, Joseph Clay McAlmond, John Colter McAlmond, Cora Jo McAlmond; nieces, Martha Dudley Morrison (Jonathan) Jones, Elizabeth Talbot Morrison (Mike) Whitwell, and Susan Morrison Caitlin; and nephews, Stephen Perry Wornall, and Hume Payne (Kim) Wornall. Bruce was preceded in death by a son, Mason Hart Forsythe and his wife, Susan Anderson Forsythe; sister, Marjorie Wornall; and a nephew, Robert Bruce Wornall.
Visitation was 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home. Funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at the funeral home with Rev. Chris Brannock officiating with interment in the Paris Cemetery. Casket bearers were Joe Showalter, Garrard Forsythe, Donnie Spencer, Andrew Biddle, Hume Wornall, Jim Dray, and Karen Wigglesworth. Honorary bearers were Steve Wornall, Clyde Parsons, Roy Crump, George Bills, Tom Dray, Raymond Johnson, William G. Talbot III, Sharon Berry, Daryl Berry, Dr Nathan Moore, members of the Paris Lions Club, and all of his caregivers. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church, PO Box 27, Paris, KY 40362-0027 of Bluegrass Hospice Care, 1317 US Highway 62E, Cynthiana, KY 41031.
