Charles A. Lucas

Charles A. Lucas, 92, of Wilder, Kentucky made his journey to be with our Lord on April 2, 2026.
He was born on September 7, 1933, to Myrtle Lucas Buchanan and Lawrence Lucas in Paris, Kentucky.
Charles served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and later joined the US Air Force. He went on to work for the Pennsylvania Railroad starting as a brakeman and promoted to a train master. His next career was a building contractor where he built 40+ homes. On weekends he would go to flea markets to buy and sell antiques with his wife, because he always had to be “piddlin” around.
Charles was a faithful member of the Pentecostal church where he served as a member, preacher and was a missionary along with his wife, Virginia. They traveled all over the country visiting churches and helped many pastors.
There was nothing ordinary about him. From his overalls to his bright alligator shoes to his sharp suits. When he walked into a room, you noticed. He was known for his generosity, kindness, outgoing personality and was helpful to many family, friends and strangers.
A loving father, Papaw and friend. He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Lucas (Gary Sr) Simon, grandchildren Gary Jr, Amy and James, great-grandchildren Hanna Huber, Eli Simon, Caleb Simon, Samuel Simon and Violet Simon, great-great-grandchild due in July, sisters Brenda (Jim) McElroy and Marlena (Johnny) Rose and brothers Charles (Lorraine) Buchanan, II, Gayle Buchanan and Joe Lucas. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Virginia Breland Lucas, sisters Patsy Napier and Brenda Buchanan and brothers Roy “Schooner” Lucas and Larry Lucas.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 23, 2026 with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 noon at Taylor Mill Pentecostal Church, 5336 Taylor Mill Rd, Taylor Mill, Kentucky 41015.
