Nelson E. Young

Nelson E. Young, age 85, husband for sixty-six years of Dollie Kay Jones Young, departed this life on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at his home in Bourbon County, Kentucky, surrounded by family. Born on April 15, 1941, in Bath County, Kentucky, the son of the late Willard Eugene and Nadine Florence Young, he was a 1959 graduate of Sharpsburg High School and attended the University of Kentucky. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, was a retired Maintenance Supervisor having worked at Mallinckrodt, Inc, a farmer, mechanic, collector of antique cars, and a member of Bourbon Street Cruisers.
Along with Dollie his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Pamela Kay Warman, Daphne Lynn (Gerald) Prater, Teresa Gail (Terry) McCarty; a son, Nelson E. Young, Jr. (Chris Meikle); five grandchildren, Crystal Lynn (Kris) Hunsinger, Misty Gail (Jason) Stone, Amanda Fay Prater, Aubrey Elaine Salsman, and Marsha Denise Prewitt. Also surviving are his great grandchildren, Skyler Hunsinger, Chase Hunsinger, Blair Crump, Kane Crump, Tanner Prewitt, Brynlee Stone, Elijah Salsman, Ashby Stone; and great great grandchildren, Boston, Khylen, Sunday, Ritchie, Wednesday, Lilly, and Ramona.
The visitation for Nelson E. Young was held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday evening, June 21, 2026, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home. Funeral Services began at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2026, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with Bishop William Denninghoff officiating. Interment followed in Longview Cemetery – Bethel with casket bearers being Skyler Hunsinger, Chase Hunsinger, Tanner Prewitt, Kane Crump, Kris Hunsinger, Jason Stone and Chris Meikle. Honorary bearers were Ronald Jones, Terry McCarty, Gerald Prater, Elijah Salsman, Rachel Webb, and Bob Mussman.
