Barbara M. Tucker

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved grandmother, Barbara M. Tucker, who peacefully entered eternal rest on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the age of 93.  A longtime resident of northern Scott County, Barbara was born in Bourbon County to the late Albert W. and Maude Curtis McFarland.  She married Harry Tucker, and they moved to Scott County, where they raised their children on their farm.

Barbara was the heart of our family. She was a woman of unwavering love, quiet strength, kindness, and faith. She welcomed everyone with open arms and had a remarkable gift for making people feel at home. Whether through a warm meal, thoughtful advice, or simply her comforting presence, she touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

She found joy in the simple things – spending time with her family, celebrating holidays together, sharing stories, tending to her hobbies, and creating memories that will be treasured forever. Her greatest pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, each of whom she loved unconditionally.

She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, generosity, resilience, and love. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that her love will continue to guide us, and her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched.

Barbara was also a licensed practical nurse for over 40 years.  After earning her LPN license in 1959, Barbara began working in Lexington.  At first, she assisted with the baby deliveries at Good Samaritan Hospital.  Then she moved on to the VA Hospital for 10 years, eventually retiring as the Director of Nursing from the Stephens Home.  She dedicated over 40 years of her life caring professionally for others.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Harry Larkin Tucker; three siblings, George McFarland, Ruby Clark, and Juanita Ball; and her parents.

She is survived by her three children, Judith Tucker, Bruce (Christine) Tucker, and Jeff Tucker; six grandchildren, Stacey (Christopher) Lykins, Justin (Blair) Tucker, and Shelby (Larry) Jewell, James (Angel) Palmer, Robert (Josie) Palmer, Bryan (Jill) Palmer; 3 great-grandchildren Parker Lykins, Owen Lykins, and Sloane Tucker; and several nieces and nephews.

Forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.

Services for Barbara M. Tucker were held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home in Georgetown, with Pastor Andrew Singh officiating.  Her service included a special recognition from the Bluegrass Nurses Honor Guard.  Inurnment was held privately with family at Evergreen Memory Gardens.
