Ryan Joe Shrout, 37, born on October 30, 1988, passed away on July 29, 2026, leaving behind a life marked by love, hard work, faith, and devotion to his family and friends.
Ryan was a beloved husband to Samantha Marie Thompson, with whom he shared eight years of marriage, and a proud father to Olivia, Kinsley Shrout, and Ellie Tolson. He embraced the role of “girl dad” with joy and tenderness, and his love for his children was evident in everything he did. His family was the center of his world, and he carried that devotion into every season of his life.
He was the son of Billy Joe Shrout Jr. and Verna Sue Pettitt, and he was deeply connected to the family who surrounded him throughout his life. He is also survived by his grandmother, Brenda Hamilton, his sisters Ginger Clawson and her husband Remington, along with their son Colt, and Joyce Christopher and her husband Eddie, as well as Sigh Pettitt. He also leaves behind his cousins Cody, TJ, and Casey Ham, along with a host of other cherished friends and family members who will forever hold his memory close.
Ryan was known first and foremost as a hardworking man. He built his life through dedication and skill as a welder and forklift operator, and he took pride in an honest day’s work. Those who knew him understood that he approached life with determination, humility, and a strong sense of responsibility. He was also a devoted husband, and the love he shared with his family was one of the defining parts of who he was.
Ryan found joy in the outdoors, where he was at home as a hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. He appreciated the peace and challenge of nature, and he made lasting memories in the places he loved most. One of his proudest moments was the catch of his eight-pound bass, a fish that became a memorable symbol of his love for fishing and the satisfaction he found in simple, meaningful accomplishments.
Those who knew Ryan will remember his steady presence, his love for his family, and the genuine way he lived his life. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, devotion, and love that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 PM Tuesday August 4, 2026, by Pastor Krista Hampton at the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home Chapel, 1120 Main St., Paris, KY. Burial followed in the Old Union Cemetery, Russell Cave Road Lexington, KY.
