Tony Thornsburg

Tony Thornsburg, age 73, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away on August 3, 2026. He was born on September 13, 1952, in Bath County and lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys that made each day meaningful.
Tony spent many years working as a welder, a trade that reflected his steady hands, strong work ethic, and dependable nature. He took pride in his work and was known for being someone others could count on. Throughout his life, he carried himself with quiet strength and a humble spirit, earning the respect of those who knew him well.
Above all else, Tony loved his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Celia Thornsburg, and a loving father to his daughter, Lisa Loraine Thornsburg. He found great joy in his grandson, Aarin Yates, and Aarin’s wife, Caitlyn Yates, as well as his great-grandchildren, Marley Yates and Kaiden Yates. He also cherished the love and companionship of his siblings, Willadean Gray, Tom Thornsburg, and Eddie Thornsburg. Tony is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will remember him with love and affection.
Tony was preceded in death by his son, Arnie Thornsburg, and by his siblings, Dora Bussell, Charlotte Sapp, and Joyce Gray. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life, and he carried the bonds of family with him always.
In his free time, Tony enjoyed the things that brought him comfort and happiness. He loved Kentucky basketball and followed it with enthusiasm. He also enjoyed fishing, mowing, and spending time around old cars. Most of all, he treasured being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he found his greatest happiness in the moments shared with those he loved. He was a great husband and father, and his family was the center of his world.
Tony Thornsburg will be remembered for his kindness, his dedication, and the love he gave so freely to those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and all who were blessed to know him. Though he is no longer with us, the legacy of his life will continue through the family he loved, the work he did, and the many memories he leaves behind.
