James Thomas “Tommy” Watkins
James Thomas “Tommy” Watkins, age 88, passed away on October 28, 2026, in Paris, Kentucky. He was born on July 19, 1938, in Paris, Kentucky, and lived a life marked by kindness, friendliness, hard work, and devotion to the people he loved.
Tommy was a lifelong resident of the Paris area and spent many years working the land as a farmer. He retired after 55 years of farming, a vocation that reflected his strong work ethic, steady hands, and deep appreciation for the simple and honest life. He later retired after 12 years as a commercial mower, continuing to serve his community through dependable work and dedication. Those who knew him will remember him as a man who was always willing to lend a hand and who carried himself with a gentle and welcoming spirit.
He was a member of Trinity First Church of God, where his faith was an important part of his life. Tommy enjoyed the fellowship of church and the comfort of being among friends and neighbors. In his leisure time, he liked going out to eat and visiting peddlers malls, where he enjoyed spending time and taking in the sights and conversations that came with those outings. He found joy in the everyday moments of life and in the company of those around him.
Tommy is survived by his daughter, Allene (Jim) Worthington; three grandchildren, Lisa Ann Sullivan (Michael) Tubbs, Maria Elena Worthington, and Jaden Hall Worthington; three great-grandchildren, Noah Todd Tubbs, James Kingston Tubbs, and Ian Michael Tubbs; his special friend, Penny Sigler; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also leaves behind many cherished memories with those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Warmouth Watkins; his parents, Earl and Bessie Honaker Watkins; his son, Ronald Watkins; his daughter-in-law, Annessa Dawson Watkins; three brothers, Harvey, Jerry, and Donnie Watkins; and one sister, Doris Young. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Tommy will be remembered for the warmth he showed to others and for the steady, kind presence he brought to his family and community. His life was one of faith, hard work, and love for family, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
