Kentucky American Water Supports Drug Take Back Day to be Held Saturday, October 24
LEXINGTON, Ky., (Oct. 19, 2026) – Kentucky American Water is once again partnering with local law enforcement to host the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day event this Saturday, Oct. 24, in Lexington. Kentucky American Water has proudly supported this important community event for many years, providing a convenient location for area residents to safely dispose of unwanted medications.
In Fayette County, the event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kentucky American Water, 2300 Richmond Road. Representatives from the local Drug Enforcement Administration office, Lexington Police Department and Fayette County Sheriff’s Office will be on hand to collect unwanted medications. Participants should remain in their vehicles and hand items directly to officers.
Accepted items include prescription and over-the-counter pills, vitamins, medicated ointments and lotions, and pet medications. Liquids, aerosol cans and needles will not be accepted.
Take Back Day helps keep unwanted medications out of the wrong hands while providing an environmentally responsible disposal option. Proper disposal also helps prevent medications from being flushed down the toilet or poured down a drain, where they could enter area waterways.
