Garnett Ray Rankin

Garnett Ray Rankin, 80, husband of Nancy May Mitchell Rankin for 60 years, died Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington, KY.

He was born in Paris, KY to the late Garnett Henry and Lora Davis Rankin.  Garnett and Nancy were married on August 1, 1962, exactly 60 years before his funeral would be conducted.  He was a retired Kentucky Textiles employee and a Paris Christian Chapel member.  Garnett enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting, fishing, boating, and motorcycle riding.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Garnett Ray (Jewell) Rankin, Jr., Timmy (Terri) Rankin, and Darrell (Jacquie) Rankin; six grandchildren, Trey (Greta) Rankin, Trent (Lindsey) Rankin, Allie (Brett) Mills, Nicole Rankin, Jackson Rankin and Gage Rankin; five great-grandchildren, Ava Rankin, Cole Rankin, Chase Rankin, Simon Rankin, and Henry Rankin; one sister, Edna Colgate and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin Rankin and Marvin Rankin, and two sisters, Carolyn Yazell and Barbara Henry.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday, August 1, 2022, at the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home, 1120 Main St., Paris, KY by Rev. Don Jolly.  Burial will be in the Paris Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM Monday, August 1, 2022, until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Trey Rankin, Trent Rankin, Jackson Rankin, Gage Rankin, Brett Mills, and Dusty Minnick.

Honorary pallbearers will be Russell Dray, Jr. and Donald Whaley.

 The funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home, 1120 Main St., Paris, KY.
