Lucy “Sug” Blanton Park

Lucy “Sug” Blanton Park passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Bourbon Heights. A native of Bourbon County, Kentucky, Sug was born on July 4, 1934 and as an only child believed that the fireworks were in honor of her birthday until she was in elementary school. She was the daughter of the late Harry M. and Jane Clay Blanton. Sug was a 1952 graduate of Paris High School and attended Sweet Briar College and the University of Kentucky where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She was a longtime member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and active in the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She enjoyed gardening, annual beach trips to Kiawah Island with family, playing bridge with lifelong friends and spending time on her farm which has been in the family since 1848. Most of all, she valued the close relationships with family and friends.
Sug was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Curtis Jackson “Jack” Park and grandson, Curtis Jackson Park III. She was a devoted wife and wonderful caregiver to Jack as he battled Alzheimer’s Disease for many years. She was deeply beloved by all eight of her grandchildren who knew her as “Mimi”. She loved attending their school, sports and extracurricular activities.
Sug is survived by her three children, Curtis Jackson Park, Jr. (Terri), Jane Clay Meadors (Porter), and Harry Blanton Park (Vivian); seven grandchildren, Marvin Porter Meadors IV (Graham), William Park Meadors (Sarah), Lucy Meadors Moorer (Noland), William Carson Park (Meredith), Harry Blanton Park, Jr. (Emma), Anne Frances Park, Thomas Jackson Park and eight great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 12 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with visitation an hour prior to the service at 10:00. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that expressions of sympathy be made to Bourbon Heights Nursing Home, 2000 Main Street, Paris, Kentucky 40361.
