Paris Storytelling Festival celebrates 10 years

This will mark the 10th year of the Paris Storytelling Festival and the 250th birthday of America. Both will be filled with stories from fairy tales and exaggerated family narratives to histories of funny and sometimes tragic events.
This is a chance for school children to adults to take advantage of the many free events during the weekend of May 8-10. The tellers are coming from Maine, Virginia, Kentucky and North Carolina to bring their lore and music to share with the audiences that travel from California and Colorado, Minnesota and Tennessee, far and near and, of course, Kentucky.Everyone is welcome to a weekend of fun starting with a free visit to the local schools on Friday, May 8, and fun at the Hotel Thoroughbred Friday night. Breakfast at Trackside begins Saturday with Kentucky storyteller Mary Hamilton, then moves to Secretariat Park with Paul Strickland and a Jam Session at the Paris-Bourbon County Public Library with storyteller/musician Josh Goforth.
All the tellers can be heard during a $35 buffet dinner in the backyard of the Wallis House. Sunday, May 10, the tellers will spread out to six different local churches for their last performance.
Don’t miss the chance to hear them. All events can be seen on the storytelling website: www.ParisStoryFest.com.
