Charles “Butch” E. Mitchell
Charles “Butch” E. Mitchell, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at his home. He was born on November 23, 1949, in Cynthiana, KY, to the late Johnny and Shelby Herrington Tucker. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, John D. Mitchell; a sister, Barbara Mitchell; and his mother-in-law, Jean Martin Brown.
Butch is survived by his wife of 29 years, Kristin Allison Mitchell; sons, Josh (Sonja) Mitchell, Bobby Barkley, Noah (Shelby) Mitchell, and his four-legged son, Dozer; one brother, Gary (Geneva) Mitchell; grandchildren, Justin Mitchell, Johnny (Skylar) Mitchell; three fur baby grand dogs, Moose, Josie, Ivy; great grandchildren, Lillian Mitchell and Stella Mitchell.
Butch graduated from Harrison County High School in 1968, and retired from Mallinckrodt Baker with over 35 years of service. He was a Navy veteran, and a member of the Cynthiana Army National Guard. Butch had 48 years as a member of the Cynthiana Elks Lodge BPOE #438, and was part of the Tuesday Night Poker Club. Being an avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing with his boys and Shelby. Butch will be missed by many and never forgotten.
A service for Butch was held on Monday, March 24, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at Ware Funeral Home. Visitation was held on Sunday, March 23, 2025, also at Ware Funeral Home, beginning at 4:00 P.M. and lasting until after the Elk’s Lodge Service which began at 7:00 P.M. Bro. Willie Riggle presided over services, and burial followed the service on Monday at Battle Grove Cemetery. His brothers-in-law served as pallbearers, James M. Allison, Jason Brown, John Allison; and his nephews, Elijah Rose, Tanner Wells, Lawson Allison. Honorary pallbearers were Kevin Copes, Rick Fryman, Edgar Hampton, Bradley Hatfield, Royce Hatfield, Tim Levi, Kyle McCarty, Tony Muntz, Dean Peak and Randy Turner.
