Bourbon County Schools Local Planning Committee Hosts Public Forum regarding NMES
The future of North Middletown Elementary School remains uncertain as the Bourbon County Schools Local Planning Committee held a public forum concerning the school. Roughly 100 of North Middletown Elementary School supporters showed up to the meeting which was held on Wednesday. Although the forum was scheduled to last 30 minutes, it took around an hour and a half for all speakers to voice their opinion. After the forum, a meeting was held in which committee members approved classifying North Middletown Elementary School as a “transitional” school instead of “permanent.” It is important to note that this committee can only make recommendations to the Board of Education, they cannot make official decisions. The motion was made for the school to be made a “transitional” facility so a draft District Facility Plan can be made excluding the school. The decision is not final and another public forum will be held on July 29th at 5:00 p.m.
