Isaac Randolph “Randy” Speaks
Isaac Randolph “Randy” Speaks, a cherished father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2024, in Lexington, KY, at the age of 75. Born on October 19, 1948, in Paris, KY, Randy lived a life marked by kindness, humor, and a profound love for his family and community.
Randy was a proud graduate of Bourbon County High School, class of 1966, where he showcased his athletic prowess in track and field. His competitive spirit and dedication to excellence followed him throughout his life and career. For 45 years, Randy served as a devoted veterinary technician for Dr. Copeland at Sunny Side Farm. His commitment to animal care was evident to all who knew him, and his expertise and gentle touch made him a favorite among the animals he tended to. Even after retirement, Randy’s passion for his work remained, and he continued to assist Dr. Copeland, a testament to his unwavering work ethic and love for his profession.
Randy’s life was one of service and fellowship. A longtime member of Veaches Chapel CME Church, he lived his faith through action, consistently offering a helping hand and a warm smile to those around him. His love for horses was more than just a pastime; it was a part of who he was. Randy found joy in attending horse races, particularly the trots, and his knowledge of equine culture was both deep and wide-ranging.
Family was the cornerstone of Randy’s world. He is survived by his loving daughters, Nidetche “Dede” Speaks and Crystal Speaks. Randy’s memory will also be treasured by his five sisters, Gwendolyn (Roy) Smith, Ruth (Ronnie) Mack, Virginia (Jerome) Jones, Judy Jones, and Sandra (Reginald) Carlton; and his four brothers, Herbert William Jones, Jr., Don (Melissa) Jones, Tyrone Jones, and Phillip Jones. His life was enriched by his dear aunt, Viola Nichols, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who adored him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Pearl Speaks; his mother, Ann J. Nichols Jones; his stepfather, Herbert Jones, Sr.; and two sisters.
Randy’s legacy is one of laughter and generosity. Those who knew him will remember his quick wit and the ease with which he could light up a room. His friendly demeanor made him a beloved figure in his community, and his generous spirit meant he was always ready to support others in times of need.
As we say goodbye to Isaac Randolph “Randy” Speaks, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of moments that brought joy to others. His impact on our lives will be felt for years to come, and his memory will be held close in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. Randy’s journey on this earth may have come to an end, but his spirit continues to inspire us to live with laughter, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to the ones we love.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Tuesday April 16, 2024, by Rev. Stephanie Walker at the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home Chapel, 1120 Main St., Paris, KY. Visitation will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday April 16, 2024, until the hour of service at the funeral home.
