Barbara Aten Leer

Barbara Aten Leer, age 89, of Paris, departed this life on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Bourbon Heights. Barbara was born on December 24, 1934, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Robert I. and Mary C. Fritch Aten, received her Bachelor’s degree from Ohio Wesleyan University where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, and was a member of Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church where she was a part of the Altar Guild.
She was very active in the community, having worked at Glenn’s Drugstore as well as the Bargain Box, was a member of the Bourbon County Garden Club, an avid golfer, a member of several bridge clubs, and made and delivered cookies to many in the community.
Surviving are three children, Robert A. (Jane) Leer, Elizabeth “Betsy” (Tim) Gore, George Michael “Mike” (Katherine) Leer; eight grandchildren, Allison Leer (Nick) Miller, Alex McDaniel Leer, Mary Louise (Michael) Kennedy, Anna Gore (Blake) Sayers, Shelby Leer (Drew) McCulloch, Margaret Leer (Eric) Doordan, Nicholas Leer, and Grace Leer. Also surviving are ten great grandchildren; two brothers, David (Judy) Aten, and Richard (Susan) Aten.
A private service for Barbara Aten Leer will be held at a later date.
