Vickie Michelle Moriarity

Vickie Michelle Moriarity, 58, of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, died at her home Saturday, January 11, after a brief battle with ovarian cancer. Born in Seattle, Washington, to Douglas Marshall Hicks and Susan Rowena Pownceby Hicks, Vickie was a National Board Certified English Language Arts teacher at Williamstown Independent School District.

She loved her students, expected the best from them, never gave up on them, and consistently advocated for them.

Vickie is preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her brother Brett Matthew Hicks of Seattle, WA; niece Megan Hicks of Bremerton, WA; stepmother Jules Harris-Downing of Phoenix, AZ; stepsister Nichole (Nathan) Moseley of Owasso, OK; and aunt Julie Pownceby Keegan of Sydney, Australia.  Also surviving Vickie are her work families at Williamstown Independent Middle School and Bath County Middle School, as well as her church family at Bethesda Church.
