John Jerold “Jerry” Brady

John Jerold “Jerry” Brady, age 84, husband of Bonnie Starrett Brady, of Paris, departed this life on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 17, 1940, the son of the late John Joseph and Geneva Gastle Brady, attended Saint Bernard Grade School as well as graduating from Roger Bacon High School, both in Cincinnati. After serving his country in the United States Marine Corp he received his teaching degree from the University of Cincinnati and his Juris Doctorate from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law. He served as Bourbon County Attorney for thirteen years; was a pro bono attorney for the Paris Independent School System for ten years; was a volunteer at the Veterans Administration Medical Center; a Kentucky Colonel; was instrumental in re-establishing hospice care in Bourbon County; served as a Paris City Commissioner for one term as well as one term in the Bourbon County Fiscal Court; taught two years in the White Oak School District in Ohio; worked the chain gang for the Paris High School football games; President of the Greyhound Boosters; a member of Millersburg Legion; a member of the Kentucky Bar Association; and a member of the Catholic Church of the Annunciation of Paris.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, John Michael Brady, a twin brother, Terry Brady, and a brother Richard Michael Brady.
Surviving is one son, Sean (Amy) Brady; grandchildren, Connor Brady (Kailynn), Cameron Brady, and Hunter (Savanna) Brady. Also surviving are his great grandchildren, Margot Brady, Aspen Ray Brady, John Clay Brady, Callahan Brady; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 noon on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the Church of the Annunciation with Rev. Jeff Estacio officiating. Inurnment will follow at a later time in Mount Olivet cemetery with casket bearers being Connor Brady, Cameron Brady, Hunter Brady, Sean Brady, Bob Starrett, and Tom Starrett. Honorary bearers are Lindsay Stewart, Billy Langfels, and Bill Dahlstrom. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
