Charles Vernon Chapman

Charles Vernon Chapman, a bright spirit cherished for his humor and kindness, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025, in Lexington, KY, at the age of 64. Born in Bath, ME, on February 16, 1961, Charles was a true beacon of joy to all who knew him. His laughter and funny nature will be fondly remembered by his loved ones.
He was the treasured father to his son, Zach Chapman and the beloved life partner of Brian Lawrence, grandfather to Carson and James Waymire and will be missed by the mother of his son, Jo Ann Chapman. Charles was a cherished member of a large family, including his sisters, Susan (Steve), Ruth (David), Christie (Michael), Cathleen, Jane (Joe), Evie, and Patty; his brother, Steve (Debbie); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. While his presence will be missed, his memory continues to be a guiding light for them. Preceding Charles in death were his father, Vernon Vain Chapman; daughter-in-law, Stevie Chapman; and siblings, Connie, Cindy, and Robbie, as well as his stepmother, Trudy.
An alumnus of Morton Memorial of the Indiana Soldier and Sailor Children’s Home, Charles went on to establish a fulfilling career as a food service director for Aramark, Inc. at Midway College. His leadership skills shone brightly during his tenure as past President of the Indiana Soldier and Sailor Children’s Home Alumni Association, where he made lasting contributions.
Charles’s interests were as eclectic as his personality. He had a passion for collecting various treasures and found great joy in traveling. His delight was in the simple moments that brought laughter to others, especially when shared with his beloved dogs.
Remembered as funny, friendly, and interesting, Charles’s ability to light up a room and his penchant for making friends wherever he went stand as a testament to the remarkable person he was. His spirit and love for life will continue to inspire those who had the pleasure of his company.
A memorial service was conducted at 6:00 PM Tuesday May 13, 2025, by David Thacker at the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home Chapel, 1120 Main St., Paris, KY. Visitation was from 4:00 PM Tuesday May 13, 2025, until the hour of service at the funeral home.
