James Ronald Smart

James Ronald Smart, age 79, departed this life on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at his home in Paris, Kentucky. Ronnie was born in Paris, on December 3, 1945, the son of the late Carl Franklin and Virginia Carlisle Swinford Smart, attended Ruddles Mill Elementary School, was a 1965 graduate of Bourbon County High School and attended First Christian Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served from 1965-1968, which included time spent in Vietnam and continued service to his country as a member of the National Guard of Cynthiana, and became a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. Before retirement he worked as a Water Treatment Operator for the City of Paris and Georgetown, enjoyed trap shooting, photography, and was a member of the breakfast club at Hardees. In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by brothers, Virgil Smart and Carl Douglas Smart.
Surviving are two brothers, Thomas Lee (Marie) Smart, Harry B. Smart; a sister-in-law, Ruby Smart; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life gathering for James Ronald Smart will be 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 23, 2025 in the fellowship hall of First Christian Church. Inurnment with military honors will be held later at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. www.hintonturner.com
