Sue Poynter Shout

Sue Poynter Shout, 79, of Paris, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Sue was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend whose kindness and warmth touched everyone who knew her. She was the daughter of the late Frank Poynter and Rosa Buckler Poynter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jeffrey Wayne Shout; her daughter, Autumn Nicole Shout; and her brother, Ronnie Poynter.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Jessica Shout Trapp (Twanda); her brother, Darrell Poynter (Debbie); her sisters, Penny Fryman (Woody) and Dixie Fite (Gilbert); her sister-in-law, Lillian Poynter; her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as a host of beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Sue dedicated 41 years of service to Pizza Hut, where she became known for her strong work ethic, caring heart, and the lifelong friendships she built along the way. She also worked at Dairy Queen in Paris, where she loved serving her community and getting to know so many people over the years.

Outside of work, Sue treasured time spent with her special friends Betty Jo, Donna, Letita, and Sherry. Whether sharing dinners together or trying new restaurants around town, those moments brought her great joy.

Her grandchildren lovingly called her “Big Drink Sue,” a nickname that perfectly captured her fun-loving spirit and the laughter she brought to those around her.

Above all else, Sue loved her family deeply. Her greatest happiness came from being surrounded by the people she loved most. She left this world embraced by that same love, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Hotel Thoroughbred  530 Main St  Paris, Kentucky 40361 on Thursday, June 4th at 7:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Sue’s beautiful life and the love she shared so freely with others. Sue was especially proud of the work her brother and his family devoted to restoring the hotel, making it a meaningful place to honor her life and memory. The funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home Chapel, 1120 Main Street, Paris, KY. The online guestbook is at www.Lusk-McFarland.com
