Leonard Eugene Watson

Leonard Eugene Watson, 96, of Paris, Kentucky, went home to be with Jesus Monday afternoon, November 2, 2026. He was born on April 3, 1930, to Martin Ruben and Bonnie Grace (Coffman) Watson in Oakdale, Tennessee in a small cabin. The day he was born, snow blew in through cracks onto him so they moved him and sealed the cracks as best as they could.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 48 years, Francis Marie Watson, and his second wife of 22 years, Virginia Mary Watson. He kept their pictures on the wall beside his bed and frequently told them he missed them and loved them. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Glen Watson and Clarence (Agnes) Satterfield; three sisters, Juanita Louise Watson, Bernice (Marvin) Hott, and Grace (Ralph) Siegert; one son-in-law, Howard (Cheryl) Bills; and one great grandchild, Nate Bowling.
He is survived by six children, Eugenia “Jenie” Faulkner, Bonnie M. (George) Bills, Harold “Wayne” Watson, Cheryl E. (Howard) Bills, Martin H. H. Watson, and Julie N. (Phillip) Wilmeth; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
He leaves to cherish his memories, the extended families that formed through each of his marriages and his church families over the years. If you were in his family…you were family…there wasn’t any half or steps in his heart. He had an outgoing personality and never met a stranger.
He loved God and had a ministry in the nursing home working puzzles and then gluing them to a piece of cardboard that had a painted border. He would then write verses of scripture and words of encouragement on the borders and give them to those who wanted them. He also had a Bible Teaching/Study Ministry there at one time.
A memorial gathering was held Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the Bourbon Heights Chapel. Hinton-Turner Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. www.hintonturner.com
