John William Fields

John W. Fields died August 2, 2023. He was born November 22, 1952, to Evans R. Fields, Sr., and Nanine W. Brooks, was educated at Bourbon County High School and Morehead State University. While at Bourbon County, he was a member of the scholarship commitee for highschool seniors. He was a former employee of the United States Postal Service then later worked as a custodian for Central Baptist Church for nine years. John was a faithful member of Seventh Street Christian Church, serving in many capacities, including on the usher board, until the time of his passing. Although he had no biological children of his own, he was a mentor to many. Until he was unable, he served his community, friends, and had great love and humility for his family.

John is survived by several brothers and sisters, James (Catherine) Brooks, sister-in-law, Margaret Brooks, Evans (Diane) Fields, Lynn Jones, Laura Fields, Wallis (Nicole) Brooks, Clayton (Cathy) Brooks, Gary (Monica) Brooks, and Margaret (Ronald) Chambers; and he had numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Evans R. Fields, Sr., and Nanine Brooks; sisters, Ruth Ann Brooks and Gloria Dodge; and brothers, Melvin, Charles, and William Brooks.

The funeral was held at 11:00am Monday, August 7, 2023 at Seventh Street Christian Church in Paris, Kentucky. The Interment was held in the Paris Cemetery.

The pallbearers were Stephen Dunn, Gary Brooks, John Steele III, Rickey Goins, Jerry Dickerson, Derek Brooks, Austin Brooks, Greg Bradley.

The funeral arrangements were entrusted to O.L. Hughes & Suns Mortuary at 322 East Third Street, Lexington, Kentucky 40508.
