Alma Frances Rutherford

Alma Frances Rutherford, 87, of Bourbon County, Kentucky went to be with the Lord Thursday, August 31, 2023. She passed away peacefully and comfortably showered with prayers and love. Alma was born in Bourbon County on March 13, 1936, the daughter of the late Mason and Lottie Reynolds McCarty, was a graduate of Bourbon County High School, received her associate degree from the University of Kentucky, was a member of Central Baptist Church, a volunteer at Bourbon Community Hospital, and was a retired secretary having worked at IBM/Lexmark.

Alma loved her family and her friends. She especially cherished her 3 sons. She was so proud of them and all they accomplished. Her family meant everything to her. She also had a special place in her heart for her church and church family. Alma enjoyed donating her time by volunteering at the hospital to help others.

Anything Alma cooked was special. She truly made everything with love. She created memories with something as simple as her famous meatloaf, which was a favorite of her sons and their friends. Her big Norman Rockwell picturesque family breakfasts were wonderful. Her house smelled like magic when she cooked yummy cake or pumpkin rolls for her grandchildren.

Alma was very active and loved taking care of her yard and house. She loved collecting figurines and antiques that were important to her. She also enjoyed eating Mexican food with friends, and getting her hair done. In addition, she enjoyed going to Jerry’s Restaurant with her sons. All those things were special to her, and she was special to those around her.

Alma is survived by her two sons, Timothy Alan Rutherford, and Jerry Wayne Rutherford. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tina (Boon) Collins, Dana (Rodney) Pittman, Amanda (Tony) Rutherford, Cherish Rutherford, Zachary Rutherford, and Rebekah Rutherford. Also surviving are her great grandchildren, Haley Freeman-Rutherford, Madison Freeman, Chloe Freeman, Avery Rutherford, Jaxon Rutherford-Pagador, Raylan Pagador, Gina Sibbach, Ariana Sibbach, Antonio Sibbach, Jason Foster, Ethan Wells, Caleb Livingood, Mollie Livingood, Alexis Rutherford, Sylas Rutherford, Kennedy Nolan, Karder Rutherford, Kyler Rutherford, Brittany Wood and son; siblings, Elsie Morton, Brenda Kerns, Debbie (Roger) True, Jo Tarvin, Shirley (Alice) McCarty, Earl (Wilma) McCarty, James C. (Connie) McCarty; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was met in heaven by her parents and son, Duane Rutherford, her stepfather, Carl W. McCarty, and daughter-in-law, Donna Rutherford. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Bluegrass Hospice and staff, as well as to the staff at Dover Manor for the excellent care given to Alma.

The funeral service for Alma Frances Rutherford will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Russell officiating. Interment will follow in Clintonville cemetery with casket bearers being Zachary Rutherford, Cherish Rutherford, Jason Foster, Ethan Wells, Chris Hawkins, and Derek Hawkins.
