Bill Wallace Burden

Bill Wallace Burden, age 95, widower of Martha Mae Napier Burden, departed this life on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at his home in Paris, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Millersburg, Kentucky on July 17, 1928, the son of the late Will and Ida Wallace Burden, was retired from Dura Corporation, having worked for 38 years as a tool and die manager. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, was the Finance Committee Chairman for several years, and the co-treasurer. He loved gardening, woodworking, painting, was an excellent handyman, and enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds and U.K. basketball. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ethel Mae Fryman, Thelma Arnold, Patsy Louise Burden, Bobby Hart Burden, and Margaruite Small.

Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Stuart Weatherford; two nieces, Alice and Jay Reynolds, Willa Wills; and a nephew, Billy and Gloria Cannon.

The funeral service for Bill Wallace Burden was at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024, at First Baptist Church with Pastor Kyle Sullivan and Rev. Don Reed officiating. Interment was in Paris cemetery with casket bearers being Sam Rohr, Gary Royalty, Claude Berry, Tim Sosby, Roy Crump, Byron Riney, Chris Patton, and Billy Cannon. Honorary bearers were Stuart Weatherford, Jay Reynolds, and the Deacons of First Baptist Church.

Visitation began at 12:00 noon until time for the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations to Bluegrass Hospice Care, 1317 KY Highway 62 E., Cynthiana, Kentucky 41031, First Baptist Church, 916 Pleasant Street, Paris, Kentucky 40361, or to one’s favorite Humane Society.
