Judith Ann Jordan Gardner
It is with the Jordan family’s deepest sadness to announce the passing of Judith Ann Jordan Gardner on April 15, 2024. Judy, a dutiful daughter and loving mother, was born in Paris, Kentucky on November 3, 1940.
Always an outgoing people person, Judy was a cheerleader at Paris City High School where she graduated in 1959. After high school Judy worked as a telephone operator for the Southern Bell Telephone Company. Even as a young mother, she loved to travel- whether it was the Florida Keys or Alaska. One summer Judy and her brother Billy loaded her young son Ricky into a 1964 green Chevelle and drove to visit their brother Wayne in Fairbanks Alaska. True to her adventurous heart, they made the trek home with the addition of a malamute dog and moose antlers strapped to the roof of the car.
Judy’s independent nature took her to live for several years in Lexington where she worked for IBM and her love for the wildcats. After her mother became ill, she returned to Paris to care for her. Following her heart as a caregiver, she went on to work for the Department of Veterans Affairs. After retiring from the VA, she continued in home health care, caring for countless neighbors in their final years. Whether she was baking cakes, shopping for purses, or getting her hair done- Judy lived with a smile on her face and a full heart.
Judy is survived by her beloved son Ricky Gardner, her brother George “Billy” (and Carolyn) Jordan, Betty Jordan (Garlon Jr.), Wilesoline Jordan (Wayne), Carl Samuels (Charlene) and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Garlon and Ann Jordan, her sister Charlene Samuels, and her brothers Garlon “June” and Wayne Jordan.
In honor of Judy’s humble wishes, there will be a private family remembrance. She will be deeply missed by her son, her family, and all fellow Bourbon Countians who knew her.
The funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home, 1120 Main St., Paris, KY.
