James Allen “Stem” Roundtree
James Allen “Stem” Roundtree, age 82, passed away at his home in Paris, KY on August 3rd, 2024, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born in Nicholas County on June 29, 1942, to the late Lee and Clara Ruth Roundtree. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Lee “Speeds” Storey, his sister, Helen Jane McGinley and two brothers-in-law, William Storey and Jimmy McGinley.
Jimmy leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Sandra Kay Roundtree; son, Brian (Emily) Roundtree; daughter, Shannon Werner; sister, Carolyn Faye Storey; sister-in-law, Carol Agee; grandchildren Jordan Werner and Harrison Werner; and nieces, Savanna (Wayne) Rowe, and Joni (Brian) Cosgriff.
Jimmy was affectionately known as Stem to his friends, and they would tell you he was an avid storyteller with a quick wit and great sense of humor. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and supervisor at Hinkle Contracting for nearly 30 years. After he retired, his favorite thing to do was go fishing with his buddies. We celebrate a life well-lived as a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend to many.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. You may view and sign the guest book at www.warefuneralhome.com.

Jimmy was one of the nicest people I’ve ever known. And was the Best neighbor I’ve ever had the pleasure to live by. Thoughts and Prayers to his amazing Family.
He was the most wonderful man I ever knew. He was my friend, confidant, advisor, and most fierce protector. My world will never be the same without my sweet Daddy in it.
