Terry Rader

Terry Edward Rader, age 74, of Leesburg, Kentucky passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, August 29, 2024.  He was born on July 24, 1950, in Paris, KY, to the late John Lyle and Margaret Helena Wilhoit Rader.  Terry was also preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Kay Rader.

Terry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joyce Rader; his two children, Aaron (Meghan) Rader, Amy (Jason) Hunter; his four granddaughters, Ellie, Makenna, Violet and Maci.

Terry was an air defense serviceman in the Army from 1970-1972.  He returned home to attend EKU where he met his wife, Joyce.  Later he graduated from UK with his mechanical engineering degree.  He worked in the trade until acquiring 120 rolling acres of farmland in Leesburg, and there he found his passion.  In addition to farming he was a sports editor for The Bourbon Times and Cynthiana Democrat.  He was a devoted man of faith and long-standing member of Leesburg Christian Church, where he was a deacon and led a men’s bible study and Sunday school group.  He was an avid sports fan, two of his favorite teams were the UK Wildcats and LA Dodgers.  Terry was remembered for being witty and kind, stubborn and gracious, always humble and giving.  He loved his family above all and will be dearly missed by many.

Services for Terry will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana, KY.  Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., also at Ware Funeral Home.  Bro. Sammy Harris will officiate services for the Rader family and burial will follow in Paris Cemetery, Paris, KY.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Terry’s memory to Leesburg Christian Church, 6005 KY Hwy 1842 N, Cynthiana, KY 41031; or to Accutran Industries, 8 Legion Rd, Paris, KY 40361.  Pallbearers will be as follows:  Aaron Rader, Jason Hunter, Krys Ilg, Rick Hunter, Brian Whalen, Miles Miller, Shannon Fuller, Brad Tracy.  Honorary pallbearers:  Jimmie and Carolyn Caskey, LCC Sunday School Class, Bold Bible Study, Randy and Kathy Pless.  View and sign the guestbook at www.warefuneralhome.com.
