James Lee Smith, Jr.

James Lee Smith, Jr., age 89, of Paris, departed this life on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Georgetown Community Hospital. James was born on April 28, 1935, in Lexington, Kentucky, the son of the late James L. and Minnie Curtis Smith, was a graduate of the Kentucky School for the Deaf, a 27-year employee of Accurtran Metal Company in Statesville North Carolina, and a member of the Bourbon County Senior Citizens. He was a member of the First Church of God in Paris, Kentucky where he was an active member, assisting with the church van, and loved horses. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Pat Smith, and a brother, Donnie Smith.
Surviving is a sister, Phyllis Hamrick; half-sister, Bonnie Dalton; special cousins, Charlotte (Larry) Stone, and Barbara Tucker. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
The visitation for James Lee Smith, Jr. will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Timothy W. Pierce and Rev. David Mefford officiated with interment following in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Casket bearers were Andy Ball, Jamey Stone, Kelly Stone, Burl Clark, Justin Tucker, and Michael Ball. www.hintonturner.com
