Mary Ellen “Mert” Roe

Mary Ellen “Mert” Roe, age 74, departed this life peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at her home in Paris, Kentucky.   She was born in Nicholas County on March 19, 1950, the daughter of the late George and Hazel Cope Roe, was a devoted advocate for Paris Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), loved cats, and was a caretaker for many family members.  She enjoyed playing euchre, spades, other card games, and was a homemaker.   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a “son “, Duane Ashcraft, as well as five brothers and sisters.

Surviving are her children, Sherry Beach, David Bussell, Traci Stewart; grandchildren, Jason (Alissa) Ralls, Leah (Chad) Stechschulte, Ashley (Ryan) Foley, and Jeffery (Ally) Stewart, Jr.   Also surviving are seven great grandchildren, as well as two sisters, Doris Cannon and Sue Earlywine.

The family chose cremation with Inurnment to follow at a later date in the Paris cemetery.
