William “Billy” Current Wyatt
William “Billy” Current Wyatt, a cherished soul known affectionately as Billy to his friends and family, left this world for his heavenly home on January 26, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on May 14, 1939, in Paris, Kentucky, Billy spent his final days surrounded by the comforting familiarity of rural life in Ruddles Mills, Kentucky.
Billy was the loving patriarch of a close-knit family, including Johnny and Betty Hewitt Wyatt; B.C. and Beth Wyatt; Will Wyatt; Drew Wyatt; Laurie Cook Wyatt; Ty and Tonya Gilligan; J.T. and Terri Gilligan and family; Cassidy Gilligan, as well as many adoring nieces, nephews, and cousins. His life was rich with the love and laughter of his family. Billy was preceded in passing by his parents, R.B. Wyatt and Jessie Cunningham Wyatt; his sister, Elinor Wright; and his stepson, William Robin Wilson Gilligan.
After graduating from Bourbon County High School, Billy dedicated many years to The Ladish Company and Hinkle Road Construction before embracing the fulfilling life of a farmer. His commitment and pride in farming were paralleled only by his faith; he was a lifelong member of Ruddles Mills Christian Church.
Billy’s deeply rooted interests were reflections of a man who cherished simplicity and learning. He loved farming, and moments of tranquility spent on his porch—watching the dogs frolic and hummingbirds dance—brought him immense joy. A voracious reader, he had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, particularly American history.
Those who knew Billy will remember him as the epitome of kindness, thoughtfulness, and faith. He sowed seeds of love and understanding in every interaction, and his legacy will continue to thrive in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him. Billy’s gentle touch and wise words will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
