Ann Behunin Denninghoff

Ann Behunin Denninghoff was born January 16, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Joseph Leland and Melissa Ann Glade Behunin. She graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1963 and Brigham Young University in 1967 in Elementary Education.

Ann touched many lives through teaching and performing music. She taught elementary school and piano lessons and loved playing the piano regularly at Bourbon Central Elementary School to share music with the students. She played the piano and the organ her whole life.

Her musical talent extended into her service in the church.  Ann was a lifelong active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Meeting new people was one of her favorite things and most often she found a connection with everyone she met, especially when she was serving in the temple. She lived a life full of service and opened her arms to many.

Ann married James Denninghoff on June 7, 1972, and they would have celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary this year. Her greatest legacy is her family.  Jim and Ann raised nine children, and she loved spending time with family. In fact, they served a 12-month service mission which also gave them the opportunity to be with grandchildren. Ann passed away peacefully in her home on February 6, 2025.

Ann is survived by her husband and 9 children: James Sexton-Denninghoff, Debra (Clint) Richardson, Jennifer (Chris) Arnett, William (Kimberly) Denninghoff, Jonathan (Shalee) Denninghoff, Daniel (Rebecca) Denninghoff, Matthew (Christina) Denninghoff, Mark (Juanita) Denninghoff and Thomas (Elizabeth) Denninghoff.  She is also survived by 29 grandchildren:  Kathryn (Mitchell) Parsley, Nathan Richardson, Noah Arnett, Allison (Reese) Collins, Kensey (Cogan) Hill, Dallin Richardson, Gabriel (Madisyn) Arnett, Kelly Denninghoff, Grace Denninghoff, Bryant Denninghoff, Eve Denninghoff, Max Denninghoff, Aaron Denninghoff, Cooper Denninghoff, Conrad Denninghoff, Hank Denninghoff, Asenath Denninghoff, Esther Denninghoff, Hamilton Denninghoff, Zion Denninghoff, Hazel Denninghoff, Isaiah Denninghoff, Ivy Denninghoff, Deidrich Denninghoff, Levi Denninghoff, Cora Denninghoff, Bennett Denninghoff, Gideon Denninghoff and Oliver Denninghoff, and 6 great-grandchildren: Everlee Clark-Parsley, Callie Parsley, Paris Collins, Stevie Kate Parsley, Reed Collins and was awaiting the arrival of Baby Hill.

Ann will be greatly missed by her only living sister Kathryn (Dick) VanTassell who she loved and continued sharing music with until her passing. She is also survived by  sisters-in-laws: Pauline Behunin, Nancy Christsensen and Mary Bukoski, and also by many nieces and nephews, who loved her.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, mother and father-in-law Beulah & Philip Denninghoff, siblings: James Lee Behunin, Roy Alan Behunin, Mary Gould, Margaret Jones, Joseph Behunin, Benjamin Behunin, brothers-in-law: Rod Gould, Bruce Jones, Keith Christensen, Joe Bukowski and sister-in-law Joan Behunin.

Visitation will be Friday February 21st from 5-8pm at Lusk McFarland Funeral Home Chapel, 1120 Main Street, Paris, KY. A second visitation to honor the life of Ann Denninghoff will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 2459 Sir Barton Way, Lexington, KY at 1pm Saturday February 22nd until the hour of service at 2pm where the family will hold a Celebration of Life in her honor.  We invite all to attend.

Pallbearers will be Nathan Richardson, Dallin Richardson, Noah Arnett, Gabriel Arnett, Aaron Arnett, Cooper Denninghoff, Bryant Denninghoff and Max Denninghoff. Honorary pallbearers will be Lucas Julian and Cogan Hill.

The family would like to give special thanks to the caregivers and also the medical staff who provided assistance and love to Ann over the past several months.
