Darrell Johnson

A retired horseman, Darrell’s passion for animals was as vast as the Kentucky plains. His love for horses paralleled only by his skill in shooting pool, where he was renowned for his playful competitiveness. He reveled in his role as the life of the party, always ready with a joke, a story, or a generous smile that made every gathering brighter.

Darrell’s love for the outdoors led him to many fishing escapades, where the serenity of the lake matched his friendly and adventurous soul. In every aspect of life, Darrell was a big cut-up, endearing himself to all who had the pleasure to know him.

He leaves behind his cherished daughter, Amanda Jo Johnson; his ex-wife, Lisa Johnson; and his devoted sister, Kimberly Winn. Darrell’s memory will also be treasured by his very special friends Les Ritchie, Sherman and Dawn Mitchell, Ashlie Noland, Angela Crispin, and Larry Gray. His nieces and nephews, Carla Thomas, Melissa Thomas, Crystal (Jason) Crump, Nathan Ashcraft, and Kaylee Ashcraft, will miss his infectious laughter and kind heart. He will be fondly remembered by his brother-in-law, Carl Thomas.

Darrell was preceded in death by his mother, Geneva Lou Ashcraft; grandmother, Francis Baker; and his brothers, Mike Johnson and Duane Ashcraft. His absence will be felt deeply, but the joy he imparted will forever echo in the lives of those who loved him.
