John Bunyon “J.B.” Chamberlain, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, departed this world on May 5, 2025, at the age of 81, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, and the aroma of freshly tilled soil. J.B. drew his first breath in North Middletown, KY, born to Clayton Birdie Chamberlain, Sr. and Belva Clay Bates Chamberlain on March 9, 1944. It was in the vibrant landscapes of Paris, KY, where he shared his final days surrounded by the stories and achievements of a lifetime.
J.B.’s journey was one of vigor and virtue. A graduate of North Middletown High School, he cultivated a life deeply rooted in the rich earth of his profession. Known for his tireless work ethic, J.B. was a dedicated farmer and an industrious owner-operator truck driver who had a deep connection with the soil, whether nurturing tobacco plants or cutting silage for feed.
His life was as full and abundant as the fields he tended, blessed with a heartwarming family. He was a pillar of strength to his two adoring children, Tim “T-bone” Chamberlain and Stephanie Chamberlain; his three beloved grandchildren, Megan Kelley, Alaina Kelley, and Cameron Caudill; and his two precious great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Johnson and Brody Smith. He also leaves behind a brother, Clayton B. (Sara) Chamberlain, Jr.; two sisters, Patsy (John, Sr.) Parr and Linda (Michael) Keever; his special nephew, John Parr, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss his guidance and humor.
Preceded in passing by his devoted wife of 50 years, Hannah Louise Rodan Chamberlain; his daughter, Shanda Lynn Kelley; his parents; and two sisters, Daphne Weaver and Rosella Goodpaster, J.B.’s memory will continue to inspire all who knew him.
J.B. was a living tapestry of interesting stories, spirited debates, and creative endeavors, especially when it came to restoring old tractors. His passion for making friends and family chuckle is perhaps what set him apart and warmed the spaces he occupied. Known fondly for his playful spirit and for giving others a “hard time,” J.B.’s wit and wisdom will be sorely missed but lovingly remembered.
With his passing, a chapter in the book of life concludes. However, the stories of J.B.’s rich life tapestry will continue to be told by those he touched, ensuring that his spirit endures in the hearts of many.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday May 10, 2025, by Rev. Kyle Sullivan at the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home Chapel, 1120 Main St., Paris, KY. Burial will follow in the North Middletown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be John Parr, Jr., Clayton Chamberlian, Jr., Tim Chamberlain, Billy Bridges, Ashely Bell, Drew Thornberry and Danny Johns.
