Sharon Kay Ware Lykins

Sharon Kay Ware Lykins, passed away surrounded by family on March 5, 2024, in Lexington, Kentucky, at the age of 77. Born on November 23, 1946, in Dayton, Ohio, Sharon’s life was a testament to her enduring kindness and the joy she found in the simple pleasures of life.

Sharon’s journey began as the daughter of the late Harry Ware and Melba (Page) Yeary. Her love and nurturing spirit is carried on through her children, Shannon (Jack) Mobley, Kelly (Leah) Lykins, and Ryan Lykins. Sharon’s role as a grandmother was one of her greatest joys, and she leaves behind a legacy of cherished moments with her grandchildren, Jalyn and Houston Lykins, Abby and Emily Robinson, and Peyton and Heidi Lykins. Her unwavering support and boundless affection for them knew no limits. Her siblings, Barbara Slade, Vicki Stratton, Michael (Annette Amato) Ware, and Ronald (Dottie) Ware, also survive Sharon. They shared in countless cherished memories that were created throughout their childhood and adult lives together. Sharon and her sisters were affectionately called “The Golden Girls” and loved traveling together.

For over 40 years, Sharon’s professional life was spent at Stoll Keenon Ogden, where she served as a Legal Assistant. Her dedication and meticulous nature made her a respected figure within the firm. Her colleagues not only relied on her expertise but also Sharon’s commitment to her work.

Photography was one of Sharon’s passions, and she had an exceptional talent for capturing the essence of a moment. Her very posed shots of family and friends during special events are treasures that will allow her loved ones to reminisce and feel her presence for years to come. It was a known fact that before any family event could end, the series of family group pictures had to be captured. Our family would probably not have any pictures at all if it wasn’t for her. For years, she would volunteer as a wedding photographer for friends and friends of friends.

Sharon also found immense joy in spoiling her grandchildren, ensuring that their time together was filled with laughter and love. Her grandchildren were her world and about all she talked about! In her passing, Sharon leaves behind a world that was undeniably made brighter by her presence. Her influence will continue to be felt, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched. We take solace in knowing that her legacy of love will endure, and we find comfort in the memories that will forever bind her to us.

I met Sharon when we were 15 years old at Lafayette. She was a wonderful person who made our high school days fun. I will always remember her smile. My heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to her family and friends.
