Phillip M. Haye
We regret to announce the passing of Phillip M. Haye, aged 75 years, who passed away peacefully on August 7th, 2024, at his home in Paris, Ky.
Phil was an electrical specialist with decades of experience working throughout Kentucky. He was a graduate of Bryan Station High School class of 1966. From there he joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Alaska as a communications engineer. When Phil returned to his hometown of Lexington, Ky he used what he had learned in the Air Force in addition to completing several technical courses to become an electrician and electrical specialist. Phil would go on to acquire his own company, General Sound and Electronics, with his partner Mike Smith, which they later sold and would go on to become Newtech Systems.
Phil, or “Bourbon” as he was lovingly called by his family, was a devoted family man. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Joanne Parker Haye, and their two children Beth Ann Taylor (Jason Taylor III) and David Keith Haye (Stephanie née Miller) and grandchildren: Jason Taylor IV, and Max, Luna, & Bridget Haye, and close family friend and childhood companion to David and Beth, David Crossen (Ashley nee McLean and their children Sawyer & Maddox).
Phil was an avid outdoorsman and spent many years as a scout leader of Boy Scouts of America Troop 473 with David. Phil was an expert grill master and specialized in being able to cook anything and everything with a Dutch oven.
After his retirement in 2016 Phil and Joanne moved to a hobby farm in Paris, Ky with his daughter and her husband. Phil enjoyed the open space and privacy. He was often found mowing the fields on his tractor, which brought him much joy and relaxation.
A celebration of life will be at Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home in Paris, Ky on Sunday August 11th from 3 pm – 5 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cub Scout Toop 63 in Paris, Ky and Gods Pantry.
Phillip M. Haye will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will live on through his family, friends, and colleagues.
