It is with love and cherished memories that the family of Lucille Cheeks Berry announces her peaceful passing on February 4, 2025. Born in Richmond, KY on February 21, 1935, Lucille lived a vibrant life filled with the warmth of her loved ones for almost ninety fruitful years.
Lucille, admired for her loving and generous spirit, dedicated her life to nurturing her large and lively family. She leaves behind a legacy of love embodied in her six children, Jennie Lou (Donald) Blades, Sharon Lee (Jackie) Pollitt, James Thomas (Betty) Berry, Edmon Clark (Sharon) Berry, Jr., Kenneth Ray (Sandi) Berry, and Marie Merriman. As the matriarch, she helped sculpt the lives of her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great great-grandchildren whose anecdotes of her wisdom and care will continue through generations.
In union with her cherished family memories are her siblings, Joyce Cain, Jewell Dean Conner, Evelyn (Frank) Crump, Frances (Shelby) Yarber, Shelby (Lola) Cheeks, and Harold Cheeks, as well as a cherished circle of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was met in heaven by her beloved husband, Edmon Clark Berry, Sr., as well as her parents, Chester Thomas Cheeks and Lida Davis Cheeks, her daughter, Barbara Ann Caldwell, and her siblings, Nelson Cheeks, Neville Cheeks, Iva Jean Kelly, Mildred Faye Demoney, Willie Jay Cheeks, and James Cheeks, who all preceded her in death.
Lucille’s professional life was characterized by her role as a dedicated cook at Avon and Bourbon Heights. She also extended her craftsmanship to Hansley Mills and Bluegrass Industries, marking her retirement after serving smile-inducing treats at the Dairy Queen in Winchester, KY. Memberships were an integral part of Lucille’s life, with Paris Christian Church occupying a special place in her heart.
She was the fabric of her family’s narrative, often ensuring unity through the family reunions she so loved. Her and Edmon filled their years raising tobacco and sharing the fruits of their labor. Her warm kitchen was the heart of her home, where her thoughtful cooking brought joy to many.
Lucille Cheeks Berry’s life was a testament to the virtues of kindness and thoughtfulness. Her impact will live on in the memories of those she touched with her generosity and the legacy of love she leaves behind.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 AM Friday February 7, 2025, by Bro. Jeff Jackson and Bro. Don Jolly at the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home Chapel, 1120 Main St., Paris, KY. Burial followed in the Paris Cemetery.
Visitation was from 5-8 PM Thursday February 6, 2025, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were David Joe Caskey, Thomas Allen Caskey, Darrin Pollitt, Titus Caskey, Wesley Northcutt and Riley Mullins.
Honorary pallbearers were Jason Pollitt, Tommy Berry, Ray Berry, Edmon Berry and Dr. Murray West.
