Robin D. Wagoner

Robin Daily Wagoner of Merritt Island, FL passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at the age of 89. He was born on March 29, 1936 in Paris, KY where he was raised on the family farm along Jackstown Pike. Following graduation from Bourbon County High School (Class of 1974) and earning a Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University. In December 1957, he married the love of his life, Carolyn Rose.

Following their marriage, Robin began his military service in the US Army. Upon receiving an honorable discharge, he and Carolyn relocated to Florida, where they found employment in the US Space Program during the space race to send a man to the moon. He worked in the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo space programs. Following the shutdown of the Apollo program, he began his beloved career as the administrator of Asbury Arms senior housing, where he served with dedication for 38 years and was twice honored as the State of Florida Administrator of the Year.

Being a man of faith, Robin touched many lives as he was actively involved and served in many leadership capacities through the years and in his service as a Deacon in the First Baptist Church of Merritt Island. He believed in walking out your faith with integrity, hard work, and being steadfast, standing as an example to others in both his professional and community roles.

Robin was a servant-leader. He believed one cannot be a leader without being willing to serve. Jesus says, “If one of you wants to be great, he must be the servant of the rest.
He was preceded in death by his parents Layson and Maud Wagoner, his brother Layson Jr., his two sisters, Payge, and Rose.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carolyn Rose, Son, Tim (Wendy) Wagoner, daughters, Stacy DeLisa, and Lisa Praetorius, six grandchildren, Joshua (Kerry) Wagoner, Ashlee (Logan) Rebstock, Chanelle (Clayton) Ward, Kaylee Delisa, Wesley D. Praetorius, Ryan Praetorius, 6 great grandchildren, Aubrey, Leah, Landon, Cambria, Stella, and Lyla.

We would like to thank the nursing team at Cedar Creek Assisted Living for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days.

Family and friends were invited to attend a Celebration of Life at First Baptist Church of Merritt Island on Saturday, June 28 2025. Visitation with the family began at 1PM and the Celebration at 2PM with a reception to follow.

Robin Wagoner leaves behind a legacy of faith, integrity, kindness, service, and hard work. His absence will be profoundly felt, but his spirit will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known him.
