Synthia Bishop Burchell
Synthia Bishop Burchell, age 56, wife of Darrin Burchell of Millersburg, Kentucky, departed this life on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Synthia was born in Lexington on November 23, 1968, the daughter of Joi Bishop Champagne, was a graduate of the University of Kentucky, was the Human Resource Manager for Lawn and Garden, LLC, and attended both North Middletown Christian Church as well as Indian Creek Christian Church. She was formerly a member of the Millersburg City Council, enjoyed writing poetry, stories, songs, and was a volunteer at the Millersburg Animal Hospital.
Along with her husband Darrin, she is survived by her mother and stepfather, Joi (Roy) Champagne; brother, Sydney Scott, Jr.; a brother-in-law, Keith (Tracy) Burchell; along with several half-brothers and half-sister. Also surviving are her in-laws, David and Marjorie Burchell; a special niece, Sara (Austin) Howell; nieces and nephews, Tristan (Lakyn) Burchell, Shaine (Maria) Burchell, Rebekah Burchell, Joseph Scott, Jacob Scott, Jonah Scott, Emilee Scott, Brayden Scott, and their mother, Missy Miniard; a special friend, Jennifer Holbert as well as many other friends. She was preceded in death by one nephew, John Paul Scott.
There was a Memorial Gathering at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with the service at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Lee Cox officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial donations to Paris Animal Welfare Society, 6 Legion Road, Paris, Kentucky or Millersburg Animal Hospital Adoption Program. www.hintonturner.com


Synthia was a lovely person in every way. I am sad today to hear she has left us. Love to Darrin and her family. And to Jennifer. We shared so much during our time at UK. 😢
