Anita “Annie” Bruening
In Loving Memory of Anita “Annie” Bruening
December 16, 1942 – February 2, 2026
Anita “Annie” Bruening, 83, of Paris, Kentucky, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on February 2, 2026, surrounded by her family’s love.
Anita was born on December 16, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in a loving family that valued faith, kindness, and perseverance — qualities that defined her entire life.
She met the love of her life, George Bruening, and together they shared an extraordinary 62 years of marriage rooted in deep love, faith, and devotion. Together they raised five children — James, William, Nancy, Daniel, and Joyce — and created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and faith.
Anita lovingly dedicated herself to raising her family, building a home that was a haven of care and encouragement. Once her children were grown, she embraced new opportunities and passions — venturing into radio and real estate, volunteering with Hospice, and realizing her dream of writing a book and crafting daily devotionals that reflected her strong faith and her compassionate spirit.
Each morning, Anita spent two quiet hours reading her Bible and praying faithfully for her family, friends, and anyone in need. Her devotion to God was unwavering and genuine — a daily reflection of the love and hope she brought into the world.
Anita found great joy in the beauty of everyday life. She loved gardening, cooking, baking, and canning, and her home was always filled with the comforting warmth of good food and conversation. A lover of all God’s creatures, she rescued and cared for countless dogs, cats, and birds over the years, offering them the same love and gentleness she extended to everyone she met. She also loved traveling, exploring new places, and making treasured memories with George and their family.
Anita is survived by her devoted husband George, her beloved children James Bruening, William (Christi) Bruening, Nancy (Pat) Prince, Daniel (Rachel) Bruening, and Joyce (Mort) Shirazi, and her cherished grandchildren Christopher, David, George, Caroline, Natalie, Sarah, and Emelia. She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews as well as extended family and dear friends who were touched by her kindness.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Arlene and Kathy Hunt, and her brother Jack Hunt, who now welcome her home.
The visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Annunciation Catholic Church in Paris, Kentucky, beginning at 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. presided by Fr. Jeff Estacio. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery (weather permitting). Family, friends, and parishioners are invited to gather afterward in the Annunciation Parish Hall to celebrate Anita’s life and legacy.
Anita’s faith, kindness, and love were the heart of her family and community. Her gentle spirit, her prayers, and her devotion will never be forgotten. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, faith, and family — a life well lived and deeply cherished.
“Her prayers carried us, her kindness strengthened us, and her love will remain with us always.”

She was truly a wonderful woman. I consider myself blessed to have known her. My deepest condolences to her family.
Great memories of swimming with you when we were kids. Asked about you at aunt Anita’s funeral. Hope you’re doing well. Jimmy
